This week’s going to be good!

6 May

Why you may ask… lets see:

1. I got a KITCHEN AID MIXER!!!

2012-05-06 19.16.28

I don’t know why but I just love the red one, or my second choice would have been the yellow =]

2. I just bought my ticket to see the Avengers on Tuesday!

tumblr_m3iefxjqa91qe5vzdo1_500

Words cannot possibly describe my excitement for this movie, I literally ran around flailing when I bought my ticket =P

3. Steve is coming back in Hawaii Five-0!

Oh how I have missed you Steven!

4. Gossip girl and Hart of Dixie both look promising!

Mother’s day is coming up so I get to use my new mixer! it’s very exciting! Plus lately I’ve been applying for more jobs so I’m very optimistic right now!

I shall end this post with a song that I have been addicted to and makes me happy:

The Windy City of Chicago

4 May

I just got back from a 5 day trip to Chicago and Lake Geneva. We were only in Chicago for two days, but it was pretty much the highlight of the trip. It rained pretty much all week, but thankfully the day we were in Chicago it held out for a bit. We didn’t get around to a lot of things but we saw:

  • Millennium Park
  • Buckingham Fountain
  • Cloud Gate (the “Bean”)
  • The Tiffany glass dome
  • Marilyn Monroe Statue
  • Navy Pier

I wanted to see the Lincoln Park zoo but it was kind of far from where we parked. Plus parking there was a bit crazy because the zoo is free.

While in Chicago we of course had to try some of the famous Chicago style pizza. We stumbled upon this pizzeria nearby our hotel. Later I found out that this was the place my aunt also recommended: Giordano’s

cool pizza buzzer that lights up when your table is ready.

Since the pizza takes 45 mins to make from when you order it, we decided to get an appetizer (not such a good idea). The pizza was soo yummy and soo filling. It’s pretty much like a pie because it has a bottom crust and a top crust which they then top off with tomato sauce. Which is great for people like me who aren’t really a fan of tomatoes because you can just scrape it off =P It was pretty much like eating a block of cheese! I <3 cheese!! soo yummy! Highly recommend if you’re ever in the Chicago area.

Where did April go?

30 Apr

Exams, party planning, scrapbooking, work and a bunch of things in between. This past month has been pretty hectic.

My dad turned 50 this year so me and my mom decided to throw together a surprise party. It was almost a successful surprise until my mom started acting suspicious the day of. Oh wells… So I spent most of my free time planning, prepping and putting together a scrapbook in under 3 days. During all the photo sorting I realized that since 2002, when we first got a digital camera, we have taken way to many pictures (mostly of my mom and my brother though :l) For the scrapbook alone I had about 170 pictures.

Here’s some pictures from this months endeavours:

I also grabbed some all you can eat sushi with friends and went to a job fair which was pretty pointless :l Note to self: never go to any more job fairs. At least me and my friend managed to score some free goodies to make up for the $5 entrance fee =P

The Hunger Games

28 Mar

So I am fairly new to this whole fandom… I’m currently only on chapter 7 of Mocking Jay. Anyways it’s really good, but it kind of disturbs me that this is a young adult book :l I guess Harry Potter was quite violent towards the end as well, but it did seem so much because when people died it was by “magic” which, seriously, magic… In the Hunger games people killed each other with their bare hands… BARE HANDS!!! that is skills! (and scary at the same time) Anyways I went to go see the movie Monday night. I was glad there wasn’t too many people in the theater. The movie was pretty good but I’m not too sure how well it explained everything for the people who haven’t read the books. I went with two of my friends who haven’t read the books yet and they loved the movie but I was explaining some things to them as well (yes I talked during the movie! haha)

hunger-games-vanity-fair_610x458
Anyways… I loved Rue, she was soo adorable!!! So sad that she’s gone =[ I’m definitely looking forward to seeing who they cast for Finnick, I love him he’s hilarious XD Everyone so far was cast pretty well. Well done peoples! Though for some reason in my mind I imagined Haymitch as this:

Bbft3
(Sikowitz from Victorious =P)

haymitch-woody-hunger-games
No where close… I don’t know, maybe I just glazed over the description of him haha. Eventually I’ll reread the book (after I finish Mocking Jay) and see if my imagination was really that off.

An awkward moment I had when watching the movie… well, I pretty much started laughing at an inappropriate time (not like when people were getting killed) It was the scene of the reapingtumblr_lydnsldLPg1qzgc80o1_500
when they called Peeta’s name I thought about this….

tumblr_lydnsldLPg1qzgc80o2_r1_500

I was secretly waiting for the tumble weed xD

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, go watch it! and try not to laugh now during the reaping =P

To finish off, lately I’ve started watching Victorious and yesterday I became addicted to this song:

365 Days

So catchy! Enjoy!

David’s Tea

12 Mar

It’s bee a while since I’ve blogged but I went on to WordPress today (since I normally blog from Windows Live Writer) and I noticed an un posted post so I posted it and this came up…

Untitled

I have no clue what this whole reached goal deal is, I never made a goal!

Anyways, onto other things! such as one of my new obsessions in life…

DAVID’s TEA!

http://www.davidstea.com/

The obsession actually began in September, when my friend came back from Halifax where apparently there’s a David’s tea on every corner. I wish that was the case here :l I have to trek to go find my tea. There’s actually a Teaopia near me but I don’t really like their selection. I’ve tried their teas and I’m not trying to side with just one tea company but… okay plain and simple, I love tea with coconut, so when the teaopia near me finally opened I went in and asked them if they had any tea with coconut. They said no. End of story! I have smelled and tried some of their teas but they aren’t as interesting and inviting as some of the ones I found and love at David’s Tea.

The other day I finally gave into ordering a tea called Cherry Blossom. Since mid-Feb I have been waiting for March 6th to roll around (It’s when the spring tea collection came out) Only to find out that it was online only. It came fairly quick, I received a notification when Canada post picked it up in Montreal and then the next day it was on my doorstep =]

DSCN2169DSCN2170

Normally I would never order a tea online unless I’ve already tried it/ smelled it. But the description online was just so enticing:
If you’ve been to Japan in the spring, then you know about the cherry blossoms. People gather under the blooming trees to eat, drink and celebrate for days on end. This cherry tea brings you right there. It’s a festival of white Bai Mudan, green Darjeeling, Chinese green teas, dried cherries, coconut and rose petals. Many wish it could last all year long. But alas, come summer, it’s gone.

DSCN2172

I also received 3 free samples of tea: Secret Weapon (which is amazing! so many flavours!), Silk Dragon Jasmine, and Exotica.

I finally got around to trying Cherry Blossom and I’m not in love with it, but I don’t hate it either. (which is good because I have 100g of it :l) At first I was unsure because the floral and cherry smell is very overwhelming, after you steep it though its not too bad. It has a hint of floral but not too much. It has the right proportions which is good.

DSCN2181DSCN2183

My favourite tea, which I must discuss a little, is Fantasy Island! I only discovered it about a month or 2 ago and I just love it! The smell is just so intoxicatingly addicting. It’s a black tea with coconut (yum!) and raspberries! (my favourite fruit). All three of these are my favourites equalling an amazing tea! I am so grateful that Fantasy Island won for the “back from the dead” tea contest, or else I never would have found it! Thus my tea life being incomplete. DSCN2180DSCN2177

My David’s Tea Collection =] Currently I have 9

DSCN2174

My collection: (In order)

  • Read My Lips (Black)
  • Mom’s Apple Pie (Green)
  • Santa’s Secret (Black)

  • Snow Bunny (Black)
  • Honey Bee (Mate)
  • Banana Oolong (Oolong)
  • Day Dreamer (Green)
  • Midsummer Night’s Dream (Herbal)
  • Cherry Blossom (White)

Like, but don’t own:

  • Check Mate (White)

I think I’m going to try and hold off buying anymore, at least until I finish what I have. But I really want to try Glitter and Gold :l So addicting!!!!

A game of shadows…

6 Jan

So guess which movie I finally went to see today!…

Sherlock-Holmes-a-game-of-shadows-poster

Title: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows             Country/Year: USA/ 2011

Genre: Action, Adventure. Crime

Director: Guy Ritchie

Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapance and Jared Harris

Plot:

Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson join forces to outwit and bring down their fiercest adversary, Professor Moriarty.

Quotes:                                                                               When/Where/With

Dr. John Watson: Oh, how I’ve missed you, Holmes.
Sherlock Holmes: Have you? I’ve barely noticed your absence.

[when Holmes has sedated Gladstone yet again]
Dr. John Watson:
How many times are you going to kill my dog?

Sherlock Holmes: [note to Watson] If convenient, come at once. If not convenient, come all the same.

Dr. John Watson: [performing CPR on Holmes] I know you can hear me, you selfish bastard!

Dr. John Watson: How did you know I would find you?
Sherlock Holmes: You didn’t find me, you collapsed a building on me.

Mycroft Holmes: [referring to Watson] You know, he’s nothing like as slow witted as you’ve been leading me to believe, Sherly.

Sherlock Holmes: [lights pipe]
Dr. John Watson:
What are we doing down here?
Sherlock Holmes: We are waiting. I am smoking

Dr. John Watson: [as he watches Sherlock drinking embalming fluid] You’re drinking embalming fluid?
Sherlock Holmes: [exhales] Yes, care for a drop?
Dr. John Watson: You do seem…
Sherlock Holmes: Excited?
Dr. John Watson: Manic.
Sherlock Holmes: I am.
Dr. John Watson: Verging on…
Sherlock Holmes: Ecstatic?
Dr. John Watson: Psychotic.
Dr. John Watson: [pause] I should’ve brought you a sedative.

[from trailer]
Sherlock Holmes: [looks at Watson’s gun]
Get that out of my face.
Dr. John Watson: It’s not in your face; it’s in my hand.
Sherlock Holmes: Get what’s in your hand out of my face!

Opinion:

It was very exciting and I’ve been looking forward to seeing it ever since I watched the first movie during the summer (yes I know it came out in 2009) I personally loved it. Not as fast paced as the first one, but still pretty good. It seemed to drag out more than the first one and to be honest I kind of zoned out at moments due to all the dialogue and lack of ass kicking duo-ness. About 3/4 of the way through it started to pick up. I think it’s because it was back to the whole Sherlock and Watson dynamic duo. Overall it was good and I would recommend people to watch and I look forward to being able to watch it again to fully understand the beginning part. Plus it was hilarious, the addition with Sherlock’s brother was too funny, I love how he calls him Sherly.  I’m sad that the last quote didn’t make the movie =[

Un-merry Christmas Holiday

3 Jan

For the past week and a bit I was off on vacation. Did I go anywhere spectacular? No, I went to the crummy place that is Atlantic City, NJ. I love Las Vegas, and this place is just a dump in comparison. Now I’m sure this place must be pretty ‘happening’ in the summer time, but not so much during Christmas time. The place almost looked like it was abandoned. Christmas 2006 was the first time we were in Atlantic City, so why go back if we knew it was this bad. Well, back then it wasn’t that terrible, except for the fact that it rained Christmas day and I had to walk along the boardwalk with no umbrella, in a down jacket to get to a restaurant for dinner. To be clear, I do not blame Atlantic City for that.

People then ask me, “then why did you choose to go there?” after I rant about how awful it was. Here’s the thing, when my dad books vacations 85% of the time we pick something that’s drivable, and to my dismay, not Orlando, Florida (I absolutely LOVE Disney World, though I really prefer to fly…) Anyways, so it limits the range of places we go to, plus when he does a search it’s what’s available at the time. So to the people who question me, we don’t pick it because we absolutely want to go there, no we chose it because it was what’s available and looked decent to stay in. For example, this trip we stayed in a Marriot. Vacations for my family are more about outlet mall shopping, relaxing and seeing things. Which any place you go pretty much accommodates all those things.

Day 1: Well it rained most of the day, we also parked at Caesar’s Palace, so we stuck around that area because in Atlantic City you have to pay for parking in casinos! In Vegas, this is unheard of!

DSCN2088

We first went to go hit up the Shops at Caesar’s, there was no good sales whatsoever, or sales.. :l. We then decided to go back into the casino, and since I am now legal in the States I was able to get a players card. In the past they use to give you free stuff, or coupons. Now they just entice you to gamble. Their offer was that if you played at least 30 mins on the slots you would be reimbursed up to $100 of your losses and you will get 2 buffet passes and a 2 nights stay at any of their Caesar’s locations. We’ll see if that ever comes in the mail… –.- Thankfully I only lost $5.00 out of the $20 my mom gave me =P Gambling is stupid, plain and simple. I’d rather have had some gelato with my $5.00 =P By the time we got out of the Casino it was close to dinner time. We decided to walk around “The Walk” outlet mall to scope out the deals, there weren’t many. We at at Ruby Tuesday’s which was pretty decent =]

Day 2: We decided to head out to May’s landing instead of going back into Atlantic City. We ended up at Hamilton Mall, there wasn’t too much there, each of us bought about 1 thing. I found my VS shirt that I really wanted, but it was $50 here at home. I got it for $13! We ended up eating at Golden Corral, this amazing buffet that’s only $10 a person. They just recently added a chocolate fountain! It was pretty amazingly yummy!

Day 3: We went to May’s Landing yet again, but this time we stopped by the Shore mall which had a Burlington Coat Factory. Which I’ve never been to till now, it’s sort of like Winner’s here at home. It was decent, my mom found a ton of Christmas things that were 75% off! We also picked up some clocks for our house and I found a decent hair straightener from Revlon, since my current one wasn’t heating properly. There was also this other department store which, saying it was huge is an understatement. It was endless! They had some decent sales, we mostly just picked up some things from my brother’s apartment. We then went to Chili’s for their 2 for $20 meals =P I had chicken fajitas!

Day 4: Outlet Mall Shopping Day! We parked at Applebee’s since we were planning to go to eat there later on, thus they provide free parking for customers. After hours of shopping and me finding nothing I was looking for, I finally found a purse from Nine West that would be work appropriate. I also got some pans and icing tools from corning ware for 75% off! It was a good day of shopping, finished off with a yummy Applebee’s six cheese pasta.

Day 5: We left Atlantic City and headed to Boston to drop my brother back off. On this journey was the closest I have ever been to New York City. I could see the Empire State building in the distance… =[ I have never been to New York City and I really want to go soon!

So that is what I did for my Christmas Vacation, at the end of the day it was a pretty meh trip. The resort wasn’t even that nice, the hotel we stayed at in Boston was better, they even had free breakfast!
